Chris McPhee was facing more injury agony today.
The young striker left the Dripping Pan on crutches after injuring his left foot during Albion's 1-0 friendly win at Lewes last night.
He was due to undergo an X-ray today to determine the exact nature of the problem and whether it is linked to the fracture in the same foot that sidelined him at the start of the season.
The injury took the gloss off an entertaining game in front of a money-spinning crowd of 961.
It will be little consolation to McPhee that he scored the only goal, stabbing home from close range when substitute keeper Scott Ward fumbled the ball in the air from a Paul Reid corner.
Gary Hart saw a 20-yard volley tipped on to a post by Ade Bankole before the Rooks hit back with three clear chances midway through the first half.
First, the unmarked Luke Cornwall forced Chris May into a smart reflex save at the expense of a corner.
Gary Elphick, son of Lewes coach Gary, tripped Barry Moore from the resulting flag-kick, but May dived low to his left to hold Junior Kadi's tame penalty.
Seconds later a fortunate deflection off Cornwall rebounded to safety from the underside of Albion's bar.
Ward did well to block Reid's close range effort with his legs and substitute Jake Robinson shot wide after rounding the keeper as Albion sought a second after the break.
Lewes director Sean Trendall said: "Other than the injury to Chris McPhee, it was a terrific night with a great crowd and great fun.
"It's reinforced the bond between the clubs and obviously we all hope that Chris isn't too badly hurt."
