Albion manager Mark McGhee today unveiled a four-point plan for Championship survival.
McGhee believes the Seagulls need a win and a draw from their remaining four matches to guarantee staying up. He is predicting a three-way fight with Watford and Crewe to avoid the last relegation place, currently occupied by the Seagulls.
Albion have 45 points ahead of Saturday's visit to Burnley. The traditional safety total is 50, but McGhee has now lowered his sights.
"I think to be certain we need another four points but probably three will be enough," he said.
"Leicester with 49 are out of it. It's the teams behind them with 47 points, 46 and 45."
Only two points divide six teams towards the foot of the table but McGhee has targeted the pair immediately above Albion as the most vulnerable.
"I think it's pretty much between us, Crewe and Watford," he said. "Watford and Crewe are the ones who, like us, aren't winning games.
"Coventry have won a couple. They lost at West Ham on Saturday but there is no shame in that and they didn't concede until the last 15 minutes.
"Gillingham are on a great run. They had a great result on Saturday against Burnley and they've got Crewe at home on Saturday, so they can get themselves as good as out of it.
"Cardiff have a game in hand, so you think they have maybe got one win left in them as well."
Victory for Albion at Burnley would automatically lift them out of the relegation zone, above Gillingham or Crewe. McGhee feels it could also have a damaging psychological impact on Watford.
"On Saturday Watford have their best chance on paper of winning a game, because they are away to Rotherham," McGhee said.
"Don't get me wrong, I'm not under-estimating how difficult that is for them but, in comparison to some of the other games they have got to play, it looks easier.
"I think we have got to expect Watford to win but if we win as well it will be a hammer blow for them."
