I attended a family wedding last weekend. A very important one. The last time I communicated with a few people there it resulted in falling out.
You see I have voiced my opinion on a lot of things over the years, sometimes rightly and admittedly sometimes wrongly. The last time it all went a bit wrong and the memory has stayed with us for over a year.
Becoming a mother has made me realise how insiginificant squabbles are and now I am learning how to avoid them completely. My focus is on my daughter and her happiness, my husband and his happiness.
It's the realisation that I really don't need to voice myself so loudly now and accept that we all make mistakes and the important thing is to forgive each other for these, move on and enjoy sharing our experiences whether good or bad, right or what may be considered wrong.
Thankfully this wedding bought my family back together, we got along, we enjoyed a special day with smiles, laughter and a sense that we're all finally settled in our lives.
I suppose the thing I am trying to say is I have been wrong, I have been right but even though we sometimes fall out my family is important to me. Having a child, a husband and a happy home has made me appreciate that again. Congratulations to my brother Matthew and his wife Nicola. May you always have happiness in your home.
