Every day is like Sunday? Every day is silent and grey? Beat the winter blues by pretending you’re in a movie…
Before the final flakes of winter snow disappear, there’s still time to recreate Frank Capra’s classic 1946 weepie It’s A Wonderful Life. Adopting a desperate expression, run along a busy Brighton street and occasionally stop in front of random strangers to inquire feverishly (depending on your gender): ‘Don’t you know me? It’s me, George Bailey/Georgina Bailey!’ (Note for actor Andrew Sachs: the name Georgina Bailey is in no way connected with Georgina Baillie. No one at Popcorn Double Feature has had sex with your granddaughter.)
For a truly life-affirming conclusion, go home and embrace your loved ones while passionately exclaiming: ‘Let me touch you! Oh, you’re real!’ Then kiss an unremarkable household item, call everyone ‘my little gingersnap’ and declare: ‘I love this wonderful old draughty house!’
I appear to have something in my eye…
