POLICE have launched a murder investigation after the decomposed body of a woman was found.
A man in his 50s who was at address in Shelby Road, Durrington, Worthing, where the body was discovered has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He is currently being questioned by police.
Police said the woman had been dead for some time when her body was discovered just after 1.30am today.
A Sussex Police spokesman said: "A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the discovery of the body of a woman in a house in Durrington.
"Police were called to the house in Shelby Road by a relative of the occupant just after 1.30am today and found the decomposed body of the woman inside.
"The death is being treated as suspicious and an investigation team is continuing enquiries."
"A post mortem is being carried out this evening. The woman is not being identified at this stage, but police are satisfied that they know who she is.
"The man, in his 50s, has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
