A bomb disposal unit have detonated a naval shell on the beach at Eastbourne.
The object was detonated at 2.38 pm today below the cliffs west of the pier at Shooters Bottom after initially being spotted on yesterday.
Both Eastbourne lifeboat crews were launched along with bomb disposal staff from Portsmouth.
The device was described as a four-inch, post-war naval shell.
