The Brighton and Hove Bus Company must be proud of its bus cleaners.
They are unsung heroes, working tirelessly behind the scenes. I am full of admiration for them.
I see the disgraceful state the travelling public leave the buses, with vast amounts of litter, discarded half-eaten food, bottles and cans left to roll around the floor and leave a sticky mess.
It must be an absolute nightmare for these poor cleaners when the bus returns to the depot at the end of the day.
How they manage to get the buses spruced up and ready for the following day is nothing short of a miracle.
Maybe a couple of small litter bins upstairs might help but I dare say the bus company has thought of this and, for reasons best known to themselves, decided against it.
Sometimes I think we are one of the untidiest of nations.
What is the answer? Educating the public better – although I guess that’s already been tried, so there has to be some other solution to the thoughtless behaviour by some bus passengers who are selfish to the extreme.
