Police are appealing for information after a 69-year-old man was knocked down by a car.
The man, from Littlehampton, was left seriously injured on Sunday morning after the accident in Lyminster Road, Lyminster.
Police said the man had stepped out between queuing traffic and into the path of a silver Renault Clio driven by a 58-year-old woman from Yorkshire.
He was taken to St Richard's Hospital in Chichester with broken ribs and other injuries. His condition on yesterday was described as stable.
