Shoppers have been flooding into stores across Sussex to pick up bargains in the post-Christmas sales.

High street brands offering reductions of 50% and more were enticing customers inside to splash their cash.

The last few days before VAT rises again plus the fact that Boxing Day fell on a Saturday this year are seen as the main reasons for the sales rush.

Initial footfall figures for Boxing Day from market data firm Experian showed an 18.5% jump in the number of shoppers across the UK compared with last year.

Brighton was packed with shoppers looking for a bargain yesterday.

Worthing was also packed with shoppers trying to pick up a bargain, with Marks and Spencer and Next especially busy and it was the same in Burgess Hill and Eastbourne.
