It’s obvious from his comments that Adam Trimingham doesn’t drive (The Argus, December 16).

If he did, he might understand a bit more about what he’s reporting on.

A 20mph limit is never going to stop boy-racers. I suppose he did agree with that, but 99.9% of motorists drive according to the situation on city/town roads, and probably wouldn’t be able to drive at more than 20mph in a lot of places anyway.

As to bringing down speed limits, and climate change, has Adam thought about the fact that if you drive in a lower gear, that increases your petrol consumption, therefore more, not less emissions?

Regarding speed cameras, yes I’m fully aware of the need to obey speed limits but I and I’m sure most motorists find the electronic speed warnings which remind you of the limit with a lighted display are much more effective than speed cameras, which, let’s face it, are a way of making money.

There again, I’m sure 99.9% of motorists don’t exceed the speed limit intentionally.
