A pedestrian has been airlifted to hospital after being knocked down by a car.

The woman, who has not been named, was taken by air ambulance to King's College Hospital, in London, with serious head injuries after the incident near the Toby Carvery in Goring Road, Worthing.

Sussex Police and ambulance crews also attended the scene after the collision just before 2pm.

A spokeswoman for Sussex Police said: “There was a traffic collision between a pedestrian and a Vauxhall Astra.

“The pedestrian has got serious head injuries.”

George V Avenue and Rose Walk in Worthing are still closed after the incident.
