Biscuits and lollipops will be handed out to Christmas revellers to help them sober up.
Council teams will hand out “stay safe” party packs at pubs and clubs in Worthing.
They will contain biscuits to absorb alcohol and lollipops to sober up with.
Bottles of water will also be handed out to combat the effects of dehydration from drinking too much alcohol.
Members of the Adur and Worthing Safer Communities Partnership team will also put up “think safe, drink safe” posters to encourage responsible drinking in the town.
Peter Latham, the partnership chairman, said: “This is a great time of year for people to enjoy themselves and to have fun.
“We hope that they will do so safely and responsibly.”
Inspector Allan Lowe, of Sussex Police, said: “We want to raise awareness of safety issues around excessive consumption of alcohol.
“Strong police enforcement is vital but so are other creative ways like this of dealing with excessive alcohol use.”
