Regarding Stuart Blackburn’s letter “Taxing ways” (The Argus, December 14), he writes about his 83-year-old mother receiving a summons for apparent late payment of her council tax.
As an older citizen, I do not want a computer in my home. I used one in my working life but in my own house I would prefer to look out of a large square window at the sky, wildlife and passing characters.
Staring at a small square screen is expensive and time wasting. Will business please accept it is not a necessity in our lives and the phone and post do still exist. The idiocy of Facebook and the invasion of my privacy on “Google Earth” make me feel the world of Big Brother isn’t far away.
