THE article “Cops hunt rapist gang” (The Argus, December 9), appalled and sickened me and many of my female friends.
I quote: “Sussex police did not publish details of either of the two rapes on homeless women because they said they did not believe members of the general public were at risk.”
I think every woman in Brighton has a right to know when there are rapists at large. As for the police deciding this was not important enough to be published until December 9, when the first attack took place on November 27, is an injustice in itself.
They make homeless women seem insignificant and their assumption these four men will only prey on homeless people is outrageous.
A rapist has certain needs to satisfy their sexual urges. This spans any class of the community. To think they will only attack homeless women is senseless.
Homeless people are more vulnerable than most of us. If the council housed them, they would not have to live such a vulnerable existence.
Also, if the police did what they are paid to do, which is police the streets, maybe our lives would be a lot safer.
