Routes that include steep roads remain badly hit particularly at Carden Avenue, Patcham, where the Number Five is unable to get up the hill.

The Number One route is unable to get to Mile Oak and Portslade Old Village because of the road conditions.

Roger French, managing director of Brighton and Hove Buse and Coach Company said conditions were much better today than yesterday. He added: "The roads are still quite treacherous today. "We have got buses out but they are not getting into some of the further-out residential areas of Brighton and Hove. "Those accessed by steep hills are particularly badly affected and those areas have not got buses at the moment. "But buses will be available on main roads within a reasonable walking distance of those areas." For further details of bus services hit by the weather in the city go to www.buses.co.uk.
