Once again the idea of a congestion charge for Brighton and Hove rears its ugly head (The Argus, December 12).

Visitors to Brighton already have to bear expensive parking – when they can find it – with wardens waiting to catch any motorist who stays a minute over their time.

A congestion charge will be the final nail in the coffin and those who visit Brighton for shopping or the seaside will soon be going elsewhere.

I would suggest to Conservatives they hold a referendum on the issue, the undoubted outcome of which will bury this issue for good.
