I do not agree with Tony Mernagh (The Argus, December 4). Brighton Marina was conceived by one man who had a dream and Mr Mernagh has now commandeered it.
Everything brutal (his words not mine) is to remain and be added to in the name of regeneration. More like degeneration. In its early years, Brighton Marina and its land was private property. It was thrown open to the public by George Walker as a gesture to the people of Brighton. He promised a packed public meeting in Kemp Town he would never build above the height of the cliffs.
The prosperity of Brighton and Hove does not depend on the provision of ugly tower blocks concealing an area of natural beauty (the South Downs National Park), but rather a true regeneration of the marina to encourage visitors whose spending is the lifeblood of this city.
