interest in family history due to programs such as Heir Hunters, Who Do You Think You Are and So You Think You Are Royal, it is sad to learn Brighton and Hove City Council plan to close the excellent Brighton History Centre at the start of the next financial year.
Some facilities may move to the Jubilee Library but this will not offset the loss of the skills of the staff, who could not be more helpful or knowledgeable and who make any visit a pleasure rather than a chore. This is yet another example of the council’s blinkered, short-range thinking which is destroying this once great town.
Don’t let the money grabbers take away our local history resource.
