Most of us criticise the council from time to time and I am no exception. However, credit when it is due and due it is on this occasion.
I recently lost my much-loved sister and wanted to have a bench dedicated in her memory in Queen’s Park, Brighton. It was her favourite park and where we spent many wonderful hours as children.
Once I had made inquiries at the City Parks office, an appointment was made to meet Dom, one of the park specialists. A place for the bench was agreed and although the area was in need of quite a bit of work, they did say they would make every effort to have the bench in place by Christmas.
Today I received a call saying the bench was in place. I immediately rushed to the park and what I saw was absolutely wonderful.
The whole area had been cleared, branches cut back, the sun was shining and to complete the picture there was a little girl sitting on the bench with her mum. I am sure I will enjoy sitting on the bench and remembering the fun we had in the park.
So well done to Dom, Philippe, Rob and the office team at City Parks, Brighton and Hove City Council.
Your compassion and understanding is very much appreciated and I wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year.
