Rail users were faced with delays this morning after a Victoria to Brighton train broke down just outside of Preston Park station.
The 6.21 Southern service came to a stop just before it reached the station and blocked the line for 50 minutes while engineers tried to get it restarted.
It was eventually pulled into the station by another train just before 8.30am.
A spokeswoman for Southern said that most of the delays caused by the failure didn't affect northbound commuters to London as the broken down train was on the southbound line.
