A man wrestled with a gunman in his home after being stalked from a cash point.
Dan Aldridge revealed how he was confronted with a man brandishing a hand gun after answering the door.
The 24-year-old revealed how the gun was aimed at his head as the robber demanded cash and bank cards.
But Mr Aldridge slammed his front door shut on the man's arm, forcing him to drop the weapon.
The gunman screamed in pain and fled empty-handed from the house in Hamilton Close, Portslade, on Saturday.
Police carried out forensic tests on what turned out to be a pellet-firing BB gun.
It is believed that the gunman had seen Mr Aldridge withdrawing money from a cash point machine in nearby Mile Oak and had followed him home.
Inspector Jason Hazzard appealed for anyone with information to contact him at Hove police station.
He said police searched the area but an armed response unit was not needed.
He added: “The man we are looking for is black and in his mid 20s.
“He was wearing a black hoodie with a white t-shirt underneath it.
“We would like to hear from anyone who saw him either at the cashpoint in Mile Oak or later running away from Hamilton Close.”
Anyone with information should phone Sussex Police on 0845 6070999.
