A nightclubber lost part of his lip when he was hit with a bottle.
The attack happened inside the Honey Club on Brighton seafront in the early hours of yesterday.
Police are treating the assault as grievous bodily harm.
Officers were called to the club in King’s Road Arches at about 1.50am.
Door staff reported a man with blood on his shirt had been attacked. He at first thought he had been punched but it later became clear he had been hit with a bottle.
He was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton for treatment for a face wound.
His upper lip was badly cut and a piece reportedly missing.
Police are using the club’s CCTV footage to investigate the attack and are following up information from the door staff and witnesses.
