Sussex is a hot spot for big cat sightings, according to an expert.
Neil Arnold claims that of the 150 reported sightings he has received in 2009 for the South East, a large number of them were in the county.
Mr Arnold, who is a published author on the subject and runs Kent Big Cat Research, said that sightings have been confirmed in places including Uckfield, Hassocks and Newick.
Half of the sightings were described as black leopards with another quarter of people claiming to have seen a puma.
Fellow big cat tracker Derek Bilston, who has formed Sussex Big Cat Watch to find conclusive evidence of big cats in the region, said Sussex provided a good location for big cats.
