Brighton bandstand has been rusting because of heavy rainfall combined with salt spray from the sea, according to a council spokeswoman.
Rust was first spotted on the Birdcage bandstand, in King's Road, Brighton, just a month after it reopened in July.
The 125-year-old structure was repainted but rust has started coming through the paintwork again.
The Argus reported on Saturday that questions are now being asked about the rust.
On Thursday, Brighton and Hove City Council sent a contractor to repaint the bandstand.
A council spokeswoman said: “We have used high specification paint to protect it and are rectifying the rust spot problem.”
