I had my 40 week (40 weeks and three days) midwife appointment on Monday and they found protein in my wee and I had high blood pressure (which apparently had been rising over the last few appointments but I was never told of any concern). Gav and I then had to go over to the hospital so they could check me over. I had to wee for them, a lot, and had my blood pressure taken. I was there for three hours and was then told would probably be induced on Tuesday as these things are signs of pre-eclampsia.
I admit that I got very upset as was also told it wouldn't be advisable for my home birth now. I know it is important for me and my baby to be safe. In some way after I had thought about it it became a relief that the decision was out of my hands.
I got very emotional at being told I'd be induced as hadn't really thought I had anything to worry about three hours before!
So back at home we repacked the hospital bags and on Tuesday me, Gav and Jo went back to the hospital, where I had more tests for protein and my blood pressure. Overnight my blood pressure had returned back to normal. But then, after being worked up and thinking I was going to meet my baby and getting ready to be induced today, I was told they wouldn't induce but instead I have to go to the midwife for checks on Thursday where I'll have a sweep and then back to the hospital on Monday where I'll be checked over again and booked in for an induction.
So now I am 40 weeks and 5 days, and very frustrated.
