I am starting to wonder how my adorable yet crazy cat Gremlin will cope when the new baby is born.
For four years she has been my child, pampered and pandered to. The past few months we have tried to get her into the habit of not sleeping in our room, caving in on many occasions especially when she is being so affectionate and cuddly.
When we first found out I was pregnant she sniffed at me and decided she didn't like me anymore. Now since being on annual leave for the past three weeks (my maternity leave follows on from this) she has been my constant companion, sleeping when I sleep and fussing around me. I blame the full moon for the past three days of her crying and running around like a mad person.
This week she also jumped into the baby's crib and when told off I was sure she knew that she was in a place where she was not meant to be. We have started banning our room overnight but I admit it is like weaning a child from sleeping in your bed/bedroom.
So does anyone have any suggestions how we can make this transition smoother? I am such a softie when it comes to her but know that with our little one joining us in a few weeks I need to become a firmer parent to my cat.
