This week I've had my final big event as a mum to be. A friends wedding this past weekend was my last milestone before our little one is due.
I've previously talked about birth plans but have probably been putting off any decision making until now. I suppose now the baby could arrive any time. At 32-35 weeks a baby has 95% of survival if arriving early, at 35 weeks this changes to 98%. It scares me a little that our baby could arrive at any time now.
So Gav and I have decided that we'll try for a home birth. I say try because it cannot be guaranteed. My waters could break anytime, anywhere and the baby could arrive at anytime so this will have to be taken into consideration. Although my wish would be to have her at home this may not be possible.
I'm also packing a hospital bag this week. This makes it all the more real and a little bit scary.
I've looked at a lot of downloadable birth plans and have suggested a URL for one that I found the most user friendly. I will be printing four copies of this out. One for each of my birth partners, one for my hopsital bag and one to go in with my midwife notes.
So has anyone got any hospital bag suggestions? Have you had your first born at home?
I'd love to hear any tales of your growing bumps.
