More than 1,500 temporary jobs are up for grabs at stores across Sussex this Christmas.
Supermarkets are looking to recruit the seasonal workers to help them cope with the festive rush.
Sainsbury’s will take on about 600 staff across the county, with many being offered permanent roles.
It is part of their plan to recruit 20,000 people nationally.
Asda is aiming to employ about 450 new staff in its five Sussex stores while Marks and Spencer will also recruit a further 450 people.
The news will be a welcome boost to young people who have faced a huge rise in unemployment.
According to the Office for National Statistics, the number of 18-24 year olds out of work has almost doubled in the past year.
