A footballer smashed a rival player’s jaw with one punch - just six minutes into a game.
Violence flared in a match between Brighton team Crew Club and Chailey Football Club, near Lewes.
After a row about a tackle Lawrence Hughes, who played for Crew, sprinted across the pitch before leaping into the air and thumping Sean Coleman in the face.
Mr Coleman suffered fractures on either side of his jaw and needed emergency surgery.
He had four metal plates inserted into his face.
After the attack the match at Chailey sports ground was abandoned.
At Hove Crown Court Hughes, 22, of Pulborough Close, Whitehawk, admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm.
He was bailed until November 17 when he will be sentenced.
