King of the Twittersphere Stephen Fry has donated a bespoke cuss as a prize for Thursday's Brighton Twestival.

Mr Fry has agreed to create an insult especially for whoever wins the prize at the charity event, which has been organised through Twitter.

The event, held at the Black Lion in Middle Street, will raise money for Martlets Hospice, which was chosen in a poll of local tweeters.

The second of its kind, it has been themed 'Murder She Twote,' and partygoers are being encouraged to don their finest Edwardian clothes to help sleuthing.

Andy Keech, Brightwest spokesperson, says: "Murder she Twote will be about as much fun as you can have in old clothing. But more importantly it will be giving Brighton's Twitterati the chance to give something to one of Brighton and Hove's most deserving charities.

Keech continues: "We hope that everyone in Brighton, Hove and Lewes who's ever fluttered with Twitter will join us. But they'd better rush as there's only two days left and the event could easily sell out."

The sleuthing - in the spirit of Holmes, Marple and Poirot - will take place in part on Twitter, as well as face-to-face on the evening, and a Twitter screen will have its place among the night's eclectic Edwardiana. Popular activities from February's Twestival will also be making a return - notably the addictive bingo progeny, Twingo, and the inevitable Twaffle, as well as new sideshows such as Twombola.

There will also be aperitifs, lounge jazz and disco dancing as well as some good old fashioned parlour games.

As in February, local businesses - especially in the region's world-beating digital media sector - are being invited to sponsor either the event or prizes in the twaffle.

Twickets will be £5 in advance and are available from Amiando.com. On the night, remaining twickets will be priced from £10, at the discretion of the evening's concierges, with possible reductions for truly fabulous costumes but subject strictly to availability.

As before, Brighton Twestival is part of global movement in which about 200 cities worldwide are hoping to raise $1m for local charities.

In February, the Brighton Twitterati raised several thousand pounds for 'charity:water', which provides water wells in some the world's neediest villages.
