A FEW days ago, I was phoned by a kind man who had found, in the street behind Amex, a diary with my name and phone number in it.
I have not been in that area for some considerable time.
I had thrown away that diary some weeks ago in the approved manner in one of the communal bins of the North Laine.
It contained only a note of night-time noise disturbance in the street where I live, a record to be submitted to the council as part of ongoing complaints about the misery caused to city centre residents by the extended licensing hours (but that is another story). I asked the gentleman to dispose of the diary as I thought I had done.
My concern is that I assumed I had done the right thing when I threw it away.
What on earth was it doing lying around in the street, well away from where I live?
How does the council handle the rubbish it collects from communal bins?
