It’s been a while since I last did my post. Things really have changed since Aintree when I last wrote to you all...
Aintree was a life changing experience. The whole build up and then the whole correspondence of it all was a lot to take in. In just three months, one memory I do have is a reporter from the Argus calling me on the day and asking me what the horse looked like. It did make me laugh a bit, I wasn’t sure really what to say to him!
I have taken on a new challenge with my partner Samantha (Sam as well) - a new horse, Disney, which I have been getting fit for the past three months. Just like my training for Aintree, it was an adventure again, getting the horse fit and remembering all the nice hacks to go on through the beautiful Sussex country side and the lovely bridleways of the South Downs Way. I have been blessed with the weather being so good, the wildlife we have around Storrington is amazing. You feel more apart of it when you’re on horse back. I ride for about 2-3 hours a day and there’s never a time when I haven’t enjoyed it.
The hard work paid off on Sunday when Sam took our new horse to The Iping Cross Country Course near Midhurst. After a few tricky fences the pair of them galloped off through the woods covered in bluebells and like a flash they were back out in the open fields flying through the green meadow. The pair Sam and Disney finally finished 5th overall of 15. I was very pleased all my hard work paid off, both horse and rider had a brilliant experience. The course was beautifully marked and laid out ,and once again like Aintree without support from key members, these kind of things cant happen ,so thank you to Julie (Disney’s owner) and the transport as well! It’s going to be a busy week because the pair of them are off again on Sunday to a local show in Sshington. Ii have a busy week again getting her fitter, so I hope to share the weeks experiences with you all next week… Take care, and best wishes to you all.
Sam
