I am so utterly despairing of this country’s future.
I am watching a young woman I work with, who has had a traumatic life with her family, try to do the right thing. What does she get? Zero, zilch, nothing.
She feels she has no alternative but to leave her job because bureaucracy dictates that because she is working, her family is not entitled to state benefits.
Her little girl, whom she is desperately trying to show the right way, is now going to be shown that not working is the only way to get help.
Her local MP has ignored letters and a judge asked her why she was working when she had a little girl.
We should be praising this young woman, not letting her slide into debt and despair.
I think she is marvellous to have done what so many other don’t try to do.
I dread to think how many others there are out there like this. My heart broke for her today. Shame on society.
