Working with his longtime collaborator Warren Ellis, Hove-based genius Nick Cave has co-composed the soundtrack for The Road, the forthcoming movie adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s post-apocalypse novel. Directed by John Hillcoat and starring Viggo Mortensen, Charlize Theron and Guy Pearce, it’ll be released in the UK early next year. Judging by the trailer it should be a faithful representation of McCarthy’s sparse masterpiece.
Cave has just confirmed his Renaissance man credentials with the publication of his second novel The Death Of Bunny Munro (£16.99, Canongate Books), which chronicles the final days in the life of a salesman as he traverses the south coast of England in a Fiat Pinto. Cave will be making a personal appearance at the Old Market in Hove on September 30. Call the box office on 01273 736222 for ticket details.
