CLOSE: Sussex 11-0 (5.4)

Bright sunshine now but too late and the umps have just called it off for the day. We've had 36.1 overs today but what cricket there has been has been dominated by Sussex who could still force a victory if they bat well through tomorrow. Apologies again for the disappearance of my earlier updates and hope you can join me tomorrow for more news from OT where the forecast is a lot better.

Sussex 11-0 (5.4)

Rain stopped play. Could be a terminal downpour this one although the sky is a lot brighter when the weather is coming from. We've only had 36.1 overs today which is more than I expected this morning. All very frustrating for Sussex because they have got themselves in a decent position here. Yardy 8, Gatting 3.

Sussex 11-0 (4)

Gatting gets off the mark with a clip off his legs for three in Newby's second over. Yardy is 8. Like the look of young Gatt, nothing seems to faze him. Mahmood followed through there when he played and missed and he just blanked him. Could get more rain here soon, very black looking towards the other OT.

Sussex 0-0 (0)

Another squall delayed the reply and it's Joe Gatting and Mike Yardy who will open for Sussex. Gatting has done that a fair bit in second team cricket this season but Mahmood, Chapple et al is a big step up so it will be interesting to see how he gets on. 30 overs to be bowled before the close.

LANCS 236 all out

The gremlins have struck again - I've got a horrible feeling all today's updates have just been wiped out. Darn! Anyway, RMJ has just taken his fourth wicket in 13 balls and Lancs are all out for 236. Newby last out to a smart catch to his right by Rayner at second slip, the fifth catch taken in the cordon during the innings. Keedy finished 4 not out. RMJ finished with 5-43.
