A woman was found inside a smoke-filled flat after her cooking caught fire.
Firefighters forced the door of the first-floor flat in Stanford Avenue, Brighton, on Tuesday night.
They were called at 9.40pm after fire alarms went off.
Other residents got out of the building safely but firefighters said they found a woman in her 50s inside the flat.
They dealt with the frying pan fire and offered the woman oxygen treatment for smoke inhalation.
Watch manager George Wippich said: "We would remind members of the public to take care when cooking and not leave cooking unattended."
