What is not often mentioned is the visual impact of cars on our city streets.

Many of our streets are attractive and of architectural interest. It would be fair to say the cars that line many of them are a permanent presence. If the car owners had to obtain planning permission they would surely not receive it.

I think it would be a good idea if, after a period of time for adjustment, say five years, all the cars in these streets would have to be part of a car-sharing scheme and there would also be a limited accommodation for visiting cars. This would reduce the number of cars parked in these streets and provide a compromise solution.
