Welcome to Popcorn Double Feature! We're a very broad church - extra-long pews will be arriving later this week - and there's plenty of room for everyone who has an interest in film, so come on in. As the evenings draw in, sunny skies turn to slate grey, wind whistles through our eaves and the first signs of frost show underfoot (probably within the space of an afternoon, considering the summer we've had), Popcorn Double Feature will be reviewing films old and new, previewing upcoming releases and interviewing people who work in the industry or simply have a passion they want to share.
There will be ongoing features where we look at the work of particular directors, actors and actresses, as well as focusing on movies from chosen genres and countries. We'll take an alternative view of how film history might have panned out if Brighton had become the world's movie capital, while Too Much Of A Good Thing will provide a moratorium on cinematic cliches. In addition, we'll bring you news, let you know about hidden gems that might be tucked away in the TV schedules, alert you to bargains you can find in the shops, flag up local events and a whole load more besides.
We've taken our name from a song that contains the line 'everybody's got a bag of his own' and we want to hear about what you've been watching, too - both good and bad. You can let us know here on the blog, as well as following us on Twitter. Say hello and share your views. We think Brighton & Hove would really benefit from having a film society (whether it turns out to be a virtual forum or an actual place where people meet up to discuss and watch movies) and this could be the first step towards establishing one. If you feel the same way, get involved by following us on Twitter, or leaving a comment below.
