A doctor who was struck off for assisting a friend's suicide will be giving a talk in Brighton.
Dr. Michael Irwin, who is a campaigner for right to assisted suicide and has accompanied patients to Dignitas, the Swiss suicide clinic, to help them end their lives.
Dr Irwin, 78, will be giving a public lecture organised by the Brighton and Hove Humanist Society at the Lord Nelson Inn, in Trafalgar Street Brighton this evening.
Dr Irwin was struck off the medical register by the General Medical Council in 2005.
He admitted obtaining sleeping pills to help his friend die, but denied misconduct.
But the GMC found the Surrey-based retired GP guilty of serious professional misconduct and said his actions were irresponsible.
The lecture starts at 8pm and admission is free.
