We write to you from our honeymoon in San Diego. We got married in Brighton on Saturday, August 15, and would like to thank two kind samaritans who helped out in our hour of need.
Everything had been brilliant – we had just been wed in St Joseph’s in Elm Grove and been picked up by our wedding car, a 1950s Oldsmobile Rocket.
We were driven down to Madeira Drive for photos and people were admiring the car and shouting their congratulations, which made the day even better.
We weren’t due at the venue for another hour, so the driver suggested cruising the seafront.
However, the traffic was heavy and our wedding car broke down.
We were left stranded on the A259 on our wedding day.
We had been there almost an hour while the driver tried to get the car started and finally resorted to calling the AA. We were resigned to having to walk to find a taxi, until two gentlemen offered us a lift in their convertible.
We would like to thank Alan and Stephen for ferrying us to our destination on the most important day of our lives. We were truly touched by the kindness of two complete strangers.
