Although the Brighton and Hove parking situation arrangements are laughable by any normal standards, one of the real mistakes is the bus stop at the bottom end of Grand Avenue in Hove, adjacent to the statue of Queen Victoria.
Although there is the inevitable cycle track, plus parking on both sides as well as in the middle of this very wide road, things used to work out well for motorists approaching the traffic lights at the junction of Kingsway and Grand Avenue.
There was sufficient room for a lane of traffic to continue moving around the stationary bus.
Not now, however. In their wisdom, the planning authorities have built a paved area into the road from the already exceptionally wide pavement.
So if a bus has to stop there, so do we all.
Are they totally mad?
