Supporters of the Lewes Pound must cash in their old notes.
The organisers behind the scheme have confirmed that the original £1 notes issued in September 2008 are no longer valid in the town’s 150 participating businesses.
They have been taken out of circulation after a new batch of notes were launched in July by Transition Town Lewes.
The old currency can be traded in at the town’s issuing points until the end of September.
