A man has died after he was stabbed in his own home.

Lee Floyd, 36, was wounded in a suspected domestic disturbance in the bungalow where he lived.

He died at the scene in the property, which he shares with an elderly couple, in Elbridge Crescent, Bognor.

Police were last night questioning a 64-year-old man, who is believed to be Mr Floyd’s father, on suspicion of murder.

He is still in custody after officers were given extra time to question him.

Detective Chief Inspector Jeff Riley, from Sussex Police's major crime branch, confirmed he was not looking for anyone else over the incident.

Paramedics and the air ambulance had been called to the property at about 1pm on Saturday.

Despite the efforts of the emergency workers to stem the bleeding, Mr Floyd was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses described how the street was cordoned off for three hours while a handcuffed man was put into the back of a police car.

One neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “It’s been a massive shock. Everyone was taken aback as it’s a quiet residential estate and we never get any trouble.

“Most people know each other and get on really well. We’ve never had anything like this before.”

Despite the incident happening on Saturday, officers refused to release any details of the incident until late yesterday afternoon.

They are now appealing for any witnesses to come forward and are also trying to speak to friends of Mr Floyd.

Anyone with any information should call 0845 6070999 quoting Operation Yewtree or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

Bognor has been hit with a series of brutal killings over the last year.

Earlier this month Marek Pudlowski, 51, was found dead by a member of the public near Bognor Pier.

The body of the Polish man, who had been battered to death, was found on a park bench on August 3.

Last summer Hajrudin Hasanovic, 33, knifed to death his estranged wife, Cassandra, in front of their two children.

Mrs Hasanovic was repeatedly stabbed in Normanton Avenue when she and her young sons were about to be driven to a women’s refuge by her mother.

Her husband was jailed for at least 18 years after admitting the killing at Lewes Crown Court in May.
