SUSSEX WON BY 193 RUNS

Coetzer was caught behind off RMJ for 22, Gidman bowled by Beer's sharply turning leg break and Claydon caught behind when Arafat returned to finish things off. Durham bowled out for 84 in 24.1 overs. Clinical is the only word for that performance by Sussex. Thanks for logging on. I will be back here on Wednesday for the Championship game against Lancashire at Old Trafford. Hope you can join me then.

WICKET: Durham 61-7 (16)

Any hopes Durham had effectively disappeared when Chanderpaul was caught behind to give Kirtley his fifth wicket in his sixth over. He's taken 5-26 and his work for the night is probably done. Since then Gatting has run out Gareth Breese with a direct hit from cover and now Plunkett had mowed a horrible ball down the leg side from Will Beer straight down Robin Martin-Jenkins' throat at deep mid-wicket. Kyle Coezter 14, Will Gidman the new batsman but this is over as a contest.

WICKET: Durham 34-4 (7.2)

Kirtley's night, no doubt about that. Smith dragged on rather unluckily for a duck and Harmison has just toe-ended a pull to mid on for 22. Four in four for JK. Shiv Chanderpaul is 6 and Kyle Coetzer 5 but this looks beyond Durham now.

WICKET: Durham 8-2 (3)

Kirtley and Yardy again. Mustard surprised by some extra bounce as he tried to guide the ball down to third man and Yardy took a good slip catch almost at shoulder height. Durham's two big hitters already gone and Sussex on top here. Harmison 4, Will Smith yet to get off the mark.

WICKET: Durham 3-1 (1.1)

Kirtley gives Sussex the perfect start as Blackwell edges the first ball low to Yardy at slip. Mustard yet to score, young Harmy 3 not out.

Sussex 277-6 (40)

That should be enough. Smith's cameo of 54 from 30 balls ended when he was caught trying to clear long on having deposited the previous ball from Blackwell over there for his fourth six. Arafat (15) and Hodd (10) kept the momentum going at the end. Durham will begin their bid to score 278 in 20 minutes. Back then.

WICKET: Sussex 248-5 (36)

Borthwick could have run out Smith in his penultimate over when the batsman fell over the bowler as he fielded off his own bowling but he decided not to and got a nice ovation from the crowd for his sportsmanship. Trouble is, Smith hit two sixes off him in his last over - one straight and the other over the scoreboard - and now has 48 from 27 balls. Goodwin's just gone though for 77, toe-ending a drive to long off where Gidman ran in to take the catch. Stand of 82 in seven overs. Yasir Arafat in now as Smith drives Blackwell over long on for his fourth six to reach a 29-ball 50. Top stuff from big Dwayne - 3x4, 4x6.

Sussex 210-4 (32.5)

Big Dwayne's teeing off. He is 32 off just 19 balls with a six into the pav in Breese's last over (1-50) and three fours so far, the last a stand and deliver mow round the corner off Plunkett, who has returned at the Cromwell Road end. 50 stand so far from just 39 balls with Goodwin 60 not out, his 50 coming from 47 balls. Good stuff in front of a decent crowd which has built steadily since the start.

WICKET: Sussex 164-4 (27.4)

Never run on a mis-field. Well Yardy just did and it cost him his wicket. Horrible mix-up after a fumble by Will Smith in the covers. He even threw to the wrong end but with the batsman close enough to shake hands in the middle Borthwick was able to get it down to the other end and Mustard whipped the bails off. Referred to the third umpire but Yardy on his way for 14. Goodwin is 45 and Dwayne Smith is the new batsman on 2.

WICKET: Sussex 148-3 (23.4)

Jug avoidance by Joyce as he goes for 49, routine stumping as he takes a pace down the pitch trying to hit Breese through the offside - and misses. Ends a stand of 57 in eight overs with Goodwin who is 38. Mike Yardy in with him on 3.

Sussex 130-2 (20.1)

Halfway through and the Sharks are on course for a good total if they can keep wickets in hand. Goodwin looks like the Goodwin of old. In the last over from Scott Borthwick, Durham's highly-rated leg-break bowler, he played a delicate late cut past Mustard for four. He's just moce to 34 with another boundary backward of square while Joyce is 44. Stand worth 49 in just six overs. Durham have used seven bowlers so far and still haven't found a formula to keep the runs down.

WICKET: Sussex 88-2 (14.3)

Two in two for Gidman who is working up decent pace down the slope. He's just got one through Gatting's shuffle to win an lbw verdict. Gatting out for 10. Murray Goodwin has just rocked back to hit his first ball past point for four and Joyce is 31.

WICKET: Sussex 75-1 (13)

RHB out, checked a drive in Will Gidman's first over and is caught close in on the leg side by Shiv Chanderpaul. He made 39. Joe Gatting in now and he's just struck a majestic six down the ground off Breese but with the breeze to move to 10. Joyce on 31.

Sussex 71-0 (11)

Joyce stepping onto the gas now. He's 27 and RHB 37, having just guided Ben Harmison's length ball backward of square for four. Top shot that. RHB was dropped on the mid-wicket boundary by Scott Borthwick when he was on 21 - bad drop really for a pro. Powerplay over so Durham have turned to Gareth Breese at the breezy sea end to bowl his offies.

Sussex 32-0 (5)

Liam Plunkett, down the slope, and Mitch Claydon have taken the new ball for the Dynamos but no alarms yet for the batsmen, this looks a very good pitch. Glued I would imagine which means it might get slower later on. Plunkett has twice strayed down leg and been put away for boundaries by Hamilton Brown who is 21 with Joyce on 11.

Good afternoon and welcome to our coverage of Sussex v Durham in the Pro40 League here at Hove.

We had a couple of beefy downpours earlier but it's sunny now and the game will start on time at 4.40pm. The outfield here is as dry as a bone.

Team news is that Chris Nash has a sprained ankle so Joe Gatting comes in for his first Pro40 game. For Durham there is no Steve Harmison or Graham Onions.

Big game this. If Sussex win they will leapfrog Somerset and return to the top of the table. Durham have won two and lost two so far so they need to win to keep alive any hopes of winning the title.

Sussex: Hamilton-Brown, Joyce, Goodwin, Yardy, Smith, Gatting, Hodd, Yasir Arafat, Martin-Jenkins, Beer, Kirtley.

Durham: Mustard, Blackwell, B.Harmison, Smith, Chanderpaul, Coetzer, Breese, Gidman, Plunkett, Borthwick, Claydon.
