From this weekend Lewes and its surrounding area is turning into a haven for art-lovers.
The Artwave Festival, which starts this weekend, runs until Sunday, September 13, and features both professional and amateur artists displaying their works side by side in more than 80 locations.
The art spaces range from farmhouses and metal workshops to gardens and industrial sites, with the opportunity to buy works direct from the artists themselves.
The not-for-profit event, which is organised by Lewes District Council, stretches across the town and takes in neighbouring villages and towns Ditchling, Firle, Chailey, Seaford and Newhaven.
“We are extremely fortunate to have so many talented artists in and around this area,” says co-ordinator Angie Osborne. “Artwave 2009 is set to inspire and to celebrate anyone already involved, or wanting to take part, in the visual arts.”
