POLICE have coaxed a man down from a viaduct, after fears he would kill himself.
The 25-year-old man was spotted on the viaduct over Lewes Road, Brighton, just before 7am this morning.
Officers closed the Lewes Road for around 15 minutes while the man was helped down.
Inspector Rob Leet of Brighton police, said: “The road was closed because there was someone on the bridge and we thought he was going to jump.
“He was detained under the Mental Health Act and taken into custody.”
The man is currently in custody and will under go a medical and mental health assessment this morning.
