A sizzling musical performance by John Barrowman had his adoring fans leaping out of their seats to get nearer to their hero at the Arundel Festival.
Many of the audience of about 3,000 contented themselves with sitting on seats or blankets to picnic in Arundel Castle’s grounds before the show kicked off.
But hundreds gathered in front of the stage to scream, dance and take photos – and I joined them.
The talent and versatility the 42-year-old Scot has displayed as an actor, singer, dancer and TV presenter shone through in his songs.
As ever the showman, the flamboyant Barrowman gave everything from the moment he bounded on stage to belt out Queen’s Don’t Stop Me Now.
Each hip wiggle had the girls yelling, and for a gay man who is happily married to partner Scott, it’s amazing he has such a large female following.
In recognition of his role as action man Captain Jack Harkness in BBC TV’s Torchwood, he sang Every Time You Touch Me I Become A Hero.
John was well supported by his band, four dancers and talent show contestant Daniel Boys. A firework finale completed a great evening.
