A man is accused of hitting a police worker with his car door while speeding away from an argument over a parking ticket.
He is accused of shouting and swearing at a woman police community support officer while she issued a ticket to a car parked on double yellow lines.
She was allegedly hit by a door as the car drove away from the scene in Brook Street, Polegate, at 11.55am on Monday.
A driver was arrested shortly afterwards on the A22 near Uckfield.
Benjamin Holt, 23, of Great Yarmouth was charged with assault on a designated person, a public order offence and careless driving.
He has been bailed until a hearing at Eastbourne Magistrates’ Court on September 3.
