Mr Allan Moore shouldn’t believe everything he hears when he states that council tenants (social landlords) enjoy cheap rents compared with the deregulated private landlords.
The rent for the majority of tenants with social landlords is nearer £100 per week plus council tax. This is hardly low considering the majority of these tenants work for, or not much more, than the minimum wage.
The deregulated private housing sector mainly deals with the transient professional middle classes in the Brighton and Hove area who can well afford high rents.
