A couple were left stranded in the outside lane of a motorway after their car was smashed into by another driver.
Aimee Wloch and fiancé Alex Bradbury, of Tudor Close, Rottingdean, Brighton, were on their way home from planning their wedding in Northamptonshire when a car ploughed into the back of them on the M23.
Before they knew what had happened, the other vehicle disappeared, leaving them stuck in the outside lane in their wrecked Vauxhall Corsa.
Miss Wloch, 27, said: “I just can’t believe someone would leave us there, not even knowing if we were alive.”
Miss Wloch was taken to hospital in an ambulance with a suspected fractured spine but luckily the couple were later diagnosed as having suffered just whiplash and bruising.
She said: “We had just got off the M25 on to the M23 when another car came right into the back of me from nowhere.
“I was driving in the middle lane, going at about 65mph because of the roadworks, when we were shunted on the driver’s side.
“The car went into a spin and sent us flying across to the fast lane.
“Luckily, I was able to apply the brake before we ended up in the central reservation. By the time we could look up, the other driver had gone.
“We were stranded in the fast lane and nobody tried to help us.”
Fortunately, a police car happened to pass them a few minutes later and helped them to safety.
The couple said the crash had put a dampener on their wedding plans.
Miss Wloch said: “We had just been to meet the vicar. We’d had a really nice day and now all we can think about is this.”
Surrey Police are investigating the crash, which happened at about 9.30pm on August 16, near Redhill.
